hello! what an honour to have you interested in receiving hilot and/or tawas from me! my name is anata laylay (they/them) and i am a trans nonbinary Filipinx ancestral medicine worker and curator from the rivers and hills. i am from Hagonoy, Bulacan and Catanauan, Quezon. currently, i am living on stolen and unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, səlilwətaɬ land. my name traditionally means “chanter of gods glory” but has since evolved into meaning “uplifter of the common people”!

i am deeply committed to community, activism, and my role as a Filipinx healer and ritual worker. this past trip to my homeland has brought forth knowledge that my maternal lineage comes from healers and it has reaffirmed the path that i am going on!! i have been lucky enough to learn from beloved folks like Kai Delgado-Pfeifer, Angela B. Angel, and Apu Adman Aghama!

for the last two years, i have continuously been deepening my ancestral medicine knowledge, sharing wisdom in areas such as Hilot (Filipinx bodywork and ritual), food traditions, and ancestral altar practices within my communities. i am dedicated to honouring their ancestors, community care, decolonization and fighting for national democracy and genuine liberation!

i am opening this healing practice up to primarily my Filipinx Kapwa but also to my a few spots for my fellow QTBIPOC community. my role as a healer lies with my community and acting as a guide back to our homelands, helping deliver messages for healing intergenerational wounds, and allowing us the space to grieve, process and learn about our histories in hopes that it rejuvenates our continued fight for liberation for all oppressed peoples.

  • hilot is an ancestral bodywork practice! it is more than just a massage and is a collaborative practice between myself and you to help us receive messages of healing, guidance, and movement within ourselves.

    the sessions will include us sitting at the altar together, sharing atang with each other and our ancestors, discussing where some focused hilot is needed, applying warm tanglad & luya to the skin (optional but recommended!), then diving into the hilot session! the time for hilot will only begin once the bodywork starts.

    please allow time before and after the session to process how things are sitting in your body and to be able to tap in to what your body needs.

  • these time slots are for the actual amount of body work! for example, on top of the 45 minute hilot session, we'll be spending 15-30 minutes beforehand at the altar and letting your body soak in the tanglad & luya (if you would like to do this part.)

    45 mins: $33 - $55 OR a trade (please email me if you have any ideas for a trade!)

    1 hr: $44 - $66

tawas

  • tawas is an ancestral divination practice that is closed to the Filipinx community! there are many ways tawas is done in the homelands but this method will use a piece of paper, coconut oil, and a flame.

    we will sit at the altar together, share atang and eat together, then call in both of our ancestors. we will then start the tawas process! once we have passed the paper over the flame a few times, we will decipher the messages together.

    please allow time before and after the session to process how things are sitting in your body and to be able to tap in to what your body needs.

  • these time slots are for the actual amount of body work! so on top of the 45 minute hilot session, we'll be spending 15-30 minutes beforehand at the altar and eating together.
